COVID Restrictions Lifted

We’re excited to inform you…With 70% of adults in New York having had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, nearly all of the state’s remaining pandemic restrictions have been lifted.

The changes are effective immediately.

Social distancing requirements, gathering restrictions, capacity limits, cleaning, and disinfection mandates, health screening rules, and requirements to collect contact information for tracing infections are all gone. The changes apply across commercial and social settings, including retail, food services, offices, gyms, fitness centers, amusement parks, family entertainment centers, hair salons, barbershops, and personal care service providers.

Rules have also been lifted for houses of worship, sports, and recreation, construction, manufacturing, trades, child care, camps, real estate, buildings, agriculture, fishing, forestry, and more.

Covid rules will remain in a few places until more people are vaccinated. They include large event venues, public transportation, health care facilities, schools, homeless shelters, and correctional facilities.

And the state will keep following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on masks. That means unvaccinated people are still required to wear them and they should also keep 6 feet apart from others, according to the state.

Business owners are free to keep following whatever Covid precautions they want. They can continue mandating masks for everyone, implementing social distancing, and limiting capacity.

They’re just no longer required to do any of that by the state.
